Business Tips

The Best Business Online

We often receive e-mails about the best business online ever created and if we don’t seize the opportunity right away we are basically not worth to be in the industry. Therefore, every single opportunity that we receive is the best business online. Many of us have actually believed such claims and tried some of these so called opportunities. If we want to look at the bright side we would say that the lost money is the price we are paying to gain more experience. Some would say that those claims were just hype.

The question that forces itself to be asked here would be; is there such a thing called the best business online? If so, what are the criteria that would make a business better than another, and therefore, what makes a business to be the best business online?

All questions will have to be answered only if the answer to the first question was positive. If the answer to the first question was negative then we don’t need to bother about answering the remaining questions.

In short, I don’t believe that there is such a thing as the best business online. Let’s take a look at the offline marketplace. A good business idea depends on factors such as competition in the industry in question, market size…etc. But we don’t see a huge industry in the offline marketplace that basically concentrates on building a downline. The offline marketplace concentrates on producing and selling products and services.

Business Online went astray from the concept and concentrated on building organizations of marketers without paying any attention to products and services. It went to the point that people are paying money for absolutely nothing. Business online should get back to the main track of producing and selling.

The beautiful thing about establishing a business online, is that you can create any business you want either with your own products/services or other people’s. The trick in online business is visibility and how to make your target market find you without you having to spend a fortune. This is of course the quest of every person who has a business online, but it is not the purpose of this article.

Therefore, similar to the fact that the best business offline does not exist, the best business online is a myth. It is an illusion that will lead any one who is interested in creating a business online to fail before even starting.

All that has been said about the best business online should not be confused with business opportunities that exist in the online marketplace. Similar to the offline marketplace, the online marketplace is full of opportunities. The purpose of this article is to show that there is nothing called “The best business online,” but it will be a huge mistake to interpret this article as trying to show that there are no opportunities in the online business marketplace. There are actually sites dedicated to helping people find the best business online that would suit their skills, needs, interests.

What we are trying to show in this article that there is no such thing as the best business online in absolute terms. Such a term is only used for hype and has no real substance in it. Therefore, so as to have an objective eye when studying opportunities online, try to classify those opportunities in the following manner:

1- A hyped message with a hyped opportunity

2- A hyped message with a sound opportunity

3- A sound message with hyped opportunity

4- A sound message with a sound opportunity

It is obvious that the advice would be not to even consider the first type. The second type is very tricky as you need to strip all the hype from the message to realize that the copywriter made a huge mistake by hyping the message while the opportunity is solid enough to sell itself.

The third business online type is also tricky, usually it is marketed by someone new in the online business, who is genuine but believed the hyped claims of the first type and now he/she is trying to market it.

The fourth is a business that we should consider seriously. I said consider and not jump into it because we need to study if it suits our skills, needs, aspirations, interests…etc.

Finally, the best business online does not exist in absolute terms. It becomes as such only if it fits you and you were able to reap its benefits because you have the skills to do so.

Affiliate Business Tips

If you’re not preselling, you’re losing money

The number one strategy to increase your affiliate sales is preselling.

Before we start, let’s talk about what preselling actually is. Preselling is both an art and a science. It’s a process of taking your reader and getting them ready to buy. Then when they’re ready, refer them to the product website so they can buy it. And when it’s done correctly, they don’t know it’s happening.

Basically, you give them some content. And give them a link to the product you’re preselling. In just a minute, I’ll explain exactly how to presell. Before we get into that, you should understand what’s in it for you. Here are a few benefits of preselling:

  • It helps your reader trust you – And gaining the trust of your readers helps them want to click your links. And the more clicks you get the more sales you’ll make.
  • Preselling is disarming – When you’re not hyping or pitching a product, your reader lets their guard down. Unguarded reading means they’re not filtering what you say. And your intention is conveyed more easily.
  • It preps them to buy – Now they’re open to hearing what you’re telling them. And in turn, they’re open to other messages, as well. For example, the sales message on the page you’re linking to. Being open to a sales message is what it means being in a buying mood.
  • You make more money – Now your reader arrives at the sales page in a buying mood. With the guard down and trusting your recommendation. This dramatically boosts your sales rate!
  • It boosts customer loyalty – People like to make their own buying decisions. Instead of being manipulated into buying. And this leads to greater satisfaction with the product.
  • It boosts your profits – Happy customers ask for refunds much less often. And that translates to more commission staying in your affiliate business.

The need to presell is clear. You earn more commissions. And increase your customer satisfaction. It’s a win-win-win!

OK, so how do you do it?

OK, now you understand why it’s so important. So, hopefully you’ve decided to start preselling. So, it’s time to break down how it works. Remember, there are two components – art and science.

The art of preselling

First, you have to gain the trust of your reader, so they let their guard down. Honestly, the only way to do this is to provide real value in you content. But you can’t give them so much that they think they have everything they could need, and that’s what makes it an art. That is, they have to be wanting more when you refer them to the product sales page for the product you’re trying to sell. Plus they’re not guarded, so they’re more open and likely to purchase the product.

Scientific preselling

There’s also a specific formula you need to follow.

First of all, it’s important HOW you present your information. You need to know where you’re going before you begin. In the end, you want to sell a specific product. How can providing information accomplish this goal? First, you can provide useful but incomplete information. The second way is to provide all the information and let your reader discover how hard it is to actually implement it. Whichever method, you send them to a product website that solves the problem you just created.

But you can’t link to your affiliate link. Instead you link directly to the product sales page. This increases your clicks. But how will you earn affiliate commissions if you don’t use your affiliate link? There’s a trick to make this work… You use the “covert cookie” strategy.

Next, you want to make sure you’re linking on related words and phrases. It’s habitual to click on words and phrases that are hyperlinked. Plus, if you link on relevant words, it only makes sense to click on there.

What you have now is a super powerful system for affiliate marketing success.

OK, here’s the not-so-good news:

Doing all of this right is really hard! Think about everything that goes into crafting an effective preselling article: Great content. First and foremost, you have to be able to write a great article that provides valuable information. To do that you have to have enough information to be valuable and be able to present it in a useful way. Writing to presell. Yes, you must providing useful content. And you have to make the content accessible in order to provide value. While at the same time making them want more. Or make the information so overwhelming they realize they can’t do it on their own.

Product selection. You also need to determine what products you’ll be preselling. Even if you can pull off writing and great article. You’ve wasted all your effort if the product doesn’t sell well.

Technical skills. And finally, you need the technical know-how to embed your image tag and make sure you get credit for the sale. This is fairly simple – you use a 1 X 1 image and set the “source” to your affiliate link. (Just don’t mess it up. Otherwise, you won’t get credit for your sales.)

Top 5 Tips For Writing A Killer Business Plan

Sarting a business plan is a detailed process that is both educational and revealing. With existing companies it is a chance to re-evaluate profit margins and focus on the prominent areas of the business while cutting out the departments that are losing money. For business plans for new companies it is an opportunity to really focus on, and understand the industry and evaluate whether your next big idea will be successful before you make a large investment.

Although up to 44% of new businesses survive 4 years or more the success of any new business is good planning, access to capital and good business management.

Here are the 5 best tips for creating a killer business plan that will undoubtedly impress:

1) Consider Your Audience

Business plans are developed for many different reasons. Is it for presenting to a panel for project approval? Will it be to submit for funding? Is it simply to restructure the business for profitability? Each of these avenues will require adjustments to the plan format and style you will need to use throughout the document. If you are attempting to obtain funding then you will have to have very detailed cost and ROI projections that are measurable and realistic. If you are making a presentation to a non-profit or a board of directors it is likely that you will need to include a directive on community impact or involvement and impact (either positive or negative) to the existing business. Remember your audience as you creates your document to ensure you focus on the important topics and leave no questions unanswered.

2) Quality Reference Material Is Key

It is important to integrate a diverse mix of reference material in your plan document. The web is great for the latest news but is not nearly as highly regarded as printed documents. Be sure to use a good mix of reputable internet reference along with well-known facts and industry statistics most often found in printed literature. Industry specific publications and industry magazines are an excellent way to get the latest news and trends in a reliable place. Always include references from industry publications as well to raise the standard your business plan and build credibility in your due diligence. Always make sure to cite your research or any quotes you may use. This will also build credibility while ensuring you are not infringing on any protected or copyrighted content you use. To quickly and easily cite your sources there is a web-based tool that you can use to enter in your info and get back the properly formatted entry for the works cited page. It makes the process a breeze: easybib.com.

3) Do Your Own Research

Creating a solid business plan is the singular first step in knowing your industry and understanding what it will take to be successful in your chosen field. Part of developing a plan should be to evaluate competitors, define your business strategy and start to understand if your value proposition meets a tangible need in the marketplace. Walking through the initial steps of creating a business plan is an invaluable process that will help to ensure that your business can survive the market trends. Don’t pay someone else to do your research for you or it may end up costing you more than you think.

4) Using a Business Plan Template

Now that you have various notes and articles, market information and loads of statistics it is time to put it all together in a layout that will highlight the data you have compiled. Finding business plan examples can be a challenge as every business plan is different (see point #2 above), however you can develop your own based on a compilation of the different topics or areas you want to cover. If you want a business plan template that comes formatted with sample headings and the different categories already setup, try using the plan layout from online websites. This site has a real business plan in Word format for quickly changing out headings and information. In addition the plan comes with a break-even analysis template in Excel as well as a 1 year Pro-Forma template in Excel with the formulas already built for easily updating and projecting costs for your business. This is a big time saver and an easy way to quickly get the business plan document underway without having to start from scratch.

5) Seek Out Experts in the Industry

Finally, after you have organized your information reach out to some industry experts like local college professors, trade show organizers, or even your local Chamber of Commerce for some insight and feedback on your plan. It always helps to get a second opinion on the plan before making the final presentation. Having one or more individuals look over the plan will shed light on areas that need to be revised or reinforce that the business plan is ready to present.

Don’t get distracted spending valuable time figuring out the Works Cited, Table of Contents or overall plan layout. Use the templates or resources that are readily available to you and spend the time focusing where you should, on the reporting and presentation of your business idea.

Small Business Time Management – How to Make Best Use of Your Time

No business owner ever has enough time in the day to do everything they need to do, and for the small business owner who may have little in the way of staff to assist them, and may even be juggling everything alone, the ability to prioritise is an essential skill.

Becoming drawn into new, pressing issues as they arise and getting dragged away from the job in hand is an inevitable part of business ownership, but leaving a sea of unfinished jobs in your wake is something that you simply cannot afford to let happen.

What is needed is planning and lots of it, whether you are trying to cope on your own or have the help of others, it is important to know what has to be done each and every hour of every working day.

A good system is to make a list of tasks for the day and to score them on your list from 1 to 4 in order of priority so that you can see at a glance which tasks take priority over others, try to do this as honestly as possible; however tempting it is to rank the things that you like doing higher than those you dread, the list needs to reflect accurately how important each job is.

Once you have prioritised, you will need to allocated chunks of your time to each task, this will help you dedicate yourself to each job for a period of time without jumping to something else and leaving things unfinished. Remember to allow some flexibility in your plan for unexpected events; although no one can plan completely for the unknown, it is wise to try to factor it in.

Next ensure to keep the plan logged in an accessible, visible place, if you work best with paper, have a wall chart planner or desk diary in plain view, if you prefer technology an online diary or spreadsheet may suit you better, as long as where ever your plan exists it remains with you throughout your day.

Wasting time is very easy to do, a couple of over-long phone conversations and an hour spent chewing over a few ideas you had the previous evening and you could find yourself well off schedule for the day; if you are prone to letting time melt through your fingers employ deadlines to keep you on track. Fix the deadlines in place and remind yourself of what will happen if you miss them; financial loss is often a strong incentive.

Above all, however many ‘urgent’ matters compete for your attention throughout the day it is vital to hold fast to your plan. Insisting on an attempt to keep all of the balls in the air at once will not make you a hero; focus is the business owner’s best friend, so, pick a task, concentrate on its conclusion and do not allow anything bar a forced evacuation of your work place to divert you.

How to Manage Your Business Time

The time you have to work your business is limited when you have a family, so you need to make the most of it. When you are organized, you’ll find you’re more productive and you’ll have more time to do other things. These things can be for your business or for you personally.

Here are some tips for you to follow.

1. A calendar

A calendar is a great way to keep yourself organized. You need to write down appointments and deadlines you have so you don’t forget them. If you get the right planner you can even write your daily to-do lists. This will help you stay organized and you won’t forget anything you need to do.

2. Goals

Setting daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly goals will help you grow your business. When you write them down and keep them in a visible location you’ll always remember what they are. Daily and weekly goals will help you achieve your monthly and yearly goals. You’ll know exactly what you need to do to achieve the goals when you write everything down.

3. Organize your home

When your home is organized you’ll feel better about working your business. You’ll also spend less time cleaning and more time growing. Including your family in this process and the cleaning process will help you feel better and you won’t be as stressed.

4. Work area

It’s a good idea to have a work area so all of your things are in one place and you won’t have to go to different places to find things. When all of your business related items are in one place you’ll spend less time searching for what you need and more time working your business.

Make sure your desk is clean and organized. Use file folders and a file cabinet to organize the papers and other supplies you need. Use a desk catty to keep your pens, pencils, sticky notes, paper clips, and other items in one location. It’s a good idea to clean your desk once a week so you keep it clean.

Time management is crucial when you’re working a business and running a home. If your children are in sports or other activities, this will mean you have more things to do in your day. If you don’t keep yourself, your family, and your business organized, you’ll have a lot of stress and you may not get all the things done you need to do in a day. Using these four tips will help you keep everything organized and you’ll be on top of your time.

Top Three Business Tips for the Entrepreneur

The business media is filled with business advice for the budding entrepreneur. Just type “business tips” into any search engine and find well over one million hits. The fact is that business tips are just that- tips; what works today may not work tomorrow and nothing is a sure bet. However, some of this business advice is “evergreen”, meaning that they are timeless.

Differentiate Yourself From the Pack

You probably got into your own business because you found that you could do something better than anyone else. Your unique abilities allowed you to make profits on product or service offerings that other people would have lost money on. Maybe you can build a website better and quicker than anyone else, or maybe you can type so fast that data entry becomes a great way to make a living. Whatever your particular strength, you are able to offer a value proposition, meaning the balance of features with pricing, that many others cannot while still making a profit. This characteristic is commonly referred to as your unique selling point, or USP. It is what makes you different from other individuals and businesses offering the same product or service. While often your USP becomes synonymous with your personal brand, it may not. You may have to work to develop a brand that accentuates your USP.

Develop Your Brand

Personal branding is very important for any entrepreneur, regardless of whether he is operating by himself or maintains a large staff. Branding is the image is the image you project to the world about your business. For example, Donald Trump is one of the best-known “brands” in the world. While he experienced many successes that would validate his renown, he is known worldwide because he successfully marketed himself. And he is not alone; all leaders of industry are recognized and personified as individuals first and foremost. The leader’s personal brand becomes synonymous with his business. Learn to successfully develop your personal brand and sell yourself; your business will thank you.

Research, Research, Research

One of the biggest reasons that businesses fail is that they neglect to adapt to changing market conditions. It is easy to get comfortable with the way you’ve always done things and, particularly if you have been very successful with methods you’ve used in the past, simply not think that change is needed. In fairness even the word “change” can have a negative connotation; a better word would be “evolve”. You should always make sure that your business is evolving so that it will remain “fit” for the market. There will always be new types of technology, new preferred forms of communication and new niches but if you are not performing research on your field and the market for it, you may already be missing the ball.

These business tips may be evergreen, but that does not mean that they are easy to implement. Using business coaching or marketing training may be a good idea for your business. Consider using a business advisor, such as Patrick and Ann Fitz-Gibbon, that is currently practicing in the market and has a good understanding of your product/service offering and your target market. Visit www.helpingyouhelpyourself.com for more information on business training.

Small Business Tips for Success Online

Small Business Tips For Success: The feast or famine business model

The feast of famine business model merely refers to my personal perceptions of certain prevalent business models you or anyone else might likely find while searching for a business to join online.

Most often employed by many high cost or “high ticket” programs and products online, this model for business would most accurately be described as a recipe for disaster.

The underlying premise being, at say $1000 a sale, how many sales would you need to make a return on your investment, quit your job, buy a house, etc., etc. Feast or famine…

For those with a proven track record of success online, more often than not the case for them will be feast. For those with the skewed perception that any kind of success, be it success online or success in general, happens over night; I see famine in you future.

small business tips #1:

Operating your business on the firm belief that x amount of traffic will generate y amount of conversions without the market research to prove it will cause you nothing but grief.

The best way to avoid falling prey to a feast or famine type scenario is to do your homework, and make sure that the numbers support your efforts.

For PPC (pay per click) marketing, be sure to track, track, track, everything. By using tracking links in your ad campaigns you can determine your cost per lead as well as your cost per sale along with your cost per click/click thru percentages provided by you campaign provider.

small business tips #2:

Next, estimate the value of each sale. If the income is residual, what’s the retention rate of your program or down line? Once you can place a decent estimate on how much each sale is worth and you’ve calculated your cost per lead per sale, then and only then are you in business.

Flying blind with your marketing dollars in hopes that good fortune will smile upon you is far to fanciful a notion to actually be effective. Be sure to track all your marketing efforts so that you can be aware of what works and what doesn’t; as well as what could use improvement.

small business tips #3:

To some, the entire notion of feast or famine may seem a bit much like some savage struggle for survival set in the most unforgiving of landscapes. To those individuals, I would suggest that in the time it’s taken them to form said opinion, they have most likely dropped an additional notch or two on the food chain.

Business is extremely competitive by nature. The best strategy for success is to always try to ensure you happen to be among the biggest fish in the smallest pond I can find i.e. research and niche marketing.

small business tips #4:

In summary, I’d say that most endorsements of unrealistic and unfounded business practice
work off the premise that people in general will always take the path of least resistance; forever hoping to not only get something for nothing but, attain great success with little effort on their part.

A very lovely notion, but so is the lottery; and your odds would probably be about the same.

Unfortunately, I’ve found out (the hard way), that internet business is not the financial freedom vending machine I was led to believe it was. For every few dollars I put in I have yet to find happiness wrapped in $100 bills (although I do remain hopeful).

Be sure to treat your business more like a business and less like a lottery and you are sure to do well.

Home Business Startup Tips

You’ve decided on a home based business and now have a lot of reading and research to do for your new company. Since home based businesses are a popular way to operate your small company you have to operate it smartly. There are start up costs that can include new computer costs, phone and utility costs and other major office equipment if you don’t have them already.

Thousands of people from all walks of life have discovered that working from home provides them with the advantages of earning an income with the flexibility to work when it is best for them, and affords them the time to care for their family and other responsibilities that often crop up during the work day, however, before starting your home-based business, consider the following:

You should determine local and state requirements for licensing and zoning regulations. Some towns and cities require a business license for work-at-home operations. There might be county licensing fees, too, so be sure to check with your local zoning office to find out how the zoning regulations in your area and how it may affect your business plans. Find out if your business requires any licenses and file the necessary forms.

Decide if you will rent a post office box and use that address on your promotional mail and stationery, doing so can make it less obvious that you are working from home. The professional image you portray is very important to your clientele; however, if you are starting on a shoe-string budget, go ahead and set up an office in a spare room, basement, or even your garage until you get established.

Carefully organize your work space making sure you have sufficient space to meet your needs. You’ll be inundated with new material, so developing a systematic approach will make your transition into your home based business easier. When scheduling calls or appointments with clients make sure you meet the time schedule you set up on time. This is extremely important, as you don’t want to come across as forgetful, it will harm your reputation immediately.

Organization is tantamount to success, as such office organization is a daily task, one that can be overwhelming. Here are some simple suggestions: Get rid of clutter – clear off old magazines, paid bills, drinks, and coffee cups. File important papers away and toss those that are merely clutter or old notes. Get a separate filing cabinet for the business, but shred old documents and papers that you no longer need. Create a work space that will help you be more productive. Organize one desk drawer, tossing out all the junk.

Keep excellent records of entertainment and travel expenses. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) tends to audit home-based businesses more frequently — especially when they are writing off a variety of expenses, including the percentage of the mortgage or rent for your office space. There are several good record keepers on the marketing. Purchase one and use it, for it will help you keep track of the expenses that must be reported to state and federal agencies. If you have an accountant they can advise you on deductions you can take and records you must keep for the IRS.

Above all, put some of your earnings into a savings account for those times when your business is in a slump . . . and it will happen. Remain disciplined in your approach to work. It is very easy to get distracted. You must be a self-starter and follow a routine, just as if you were working for any other business. In many cases, you are the only person you can rely on to get the job done. Unless it’s an emergency, do not baby-sit or chat with your neighbors.

You’re ready to start. Relax, stay focused, and Take it to the Top!
